Novatek Foundation's Long-term Promotion of Reading Program for Students in Rural Areas of Yunlin: Highlights of the Tree-climbing Activity
Promote Reading in Rural Areas
Novatek Foundation's long-promoted reading program for schools in rural areas of Yunlin is helping students experience the fun of tree climbing at their own schools in a safe and secure environment!
Recently, school tree-climbing activities were held in Dongrong and Haoshou elementary schools in Beigang Township, Yunlin County. Under the patient guidance of professional tree climbing coaches arranged by the Ming-Dao Culture and Education Foundation, the students successfully reached the high branches, challenging their own limits. After climbing down from a tree, one boy from Dongrong Elementary School reported being unable to reach the treetop last year, but finally succeeding this time. He felt a great sense of achievement and hopes to participate in the activity again next year. He'll climb even better next year for sure!
In response to anti-pandemic measures that are minimizing groups gatherings, this year's reading program continued on from last year's tree-climbing activities in having the tree-climbing activities held separately in the students’ own schools. It is hoped that through this precious tree climbing experience, the students will have greater respect for the natural environment, learn about trees, and experience how school trees are the best companion for both schools and students as they develop. It is also hoped that through the tree-climbing activities, students will build a close relationship with the school trees and establish the concept of environmental protection.
