Problem to be solved

Reading skill is the foundation of lifelong learning. Insufficient family resources and cultural stimulation for students from disadvantaged families, coupled with the long-term limitation of education resource in rural areas, have resulted in inadequate learning resources for disadvantaged students, limiting their opportunities of studying or seeking jobs in the future and making the disadvantaged students to fall into a vicious circle of poverty. It is hoped that the program can develop the reading habits of the students in rural areas from an early age, eliminating the gap in education resources between urban and rural areas.

Reading Promotion Program for Rural Elementary Schools in Yunlin

We sincerely appreciate the Novatek Foundation for its long-term commitment and resource investment spanning more than a decade since 2013. Through systematically organized monthly picture book reading sessions and creative writing programs, the Foundation has not only ensured a stable supply of educational resources for rural communities, but also opened a window to the world for underprivileged children. We are delighted to witness the remarkable transformation and growth of these students. Significant improvements have been observed in their reading comprehension, oral communication, and writing proficiency. Most inspiring of all, the children have gradually evolved from passive “story listeners” into confident “storytellers” who actively think, interpret, and express their own perspectives. This transition from passive learning to active engagement, and from listening to creating, has greatly enhanced classroom participation while fostering invaluable self-confidence and self-recognition among students in rural areas.

Reading Promotion Program for Rural Elementary Schools in Hualien

We sincerely appreciate the Novatek Education Foundation for sponsoring the writer-led classroom writing program implemented by the SinSiang Inter Community Association at Fonglin Elementary School. Through engaging, dynamic, and diverse instructional approaches delivered by professional writers, students were inspired to cultivate creativity and continuously enhance their writing skills. Under the guidance of the writers, students developed a clearer understanding of writing structure and organization, enabling them to think more critically and produce richer and more meaningful written content. The instruction on the “three-point writing method,” together with creative writing activities involving modern poetry and Tang poetry, provided students with valuable new learning experiences and creative inspiration, making the program both enriching and rewarding!

Yunlin Story Camp for Disadvantaged Students

Beginning with everyday actions to put ESG principles into practice, the “Miscellaneous Grains Exploration” story camp guides children into the fields and natural environment to learn firsthand about crop cultivation, care, and agricultural challenges. The program allows participants to experience the low-carbon journey from farm to table while developing cooking skills through teamwork. Through this process, children transition from being care recipients to individuals capable of caring for themselves. In addition, the diverse range of program activities encourages children to explore their potential and build self-confidence. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Novatek Education Foundation for its 14 years of continuous resource support, enabling children to experience the warmth of society and discover motivation for learning. At the same time, the Foundation has supported the revitalization of historic sites and heritage buildings, providing children with a sustainable space for ongoing learning and participation. These efforts have become a stabilizing force within the community, allowing the nourishment of culture and education to continue cultivating young minds across Yunlin, while accompanying children as they grow and thrive.
