Novatek common core competencies

Excellent talents are the key driving force for Novatek’s continuous innovation. Apart from dynamically recruiting outstanding external talents, Novatek also continuously cultivates its internal talents to meet organizational development’s demand for outstanding professionals. To carry out talent development that is in line with the business philosophy of Novatek, and cultivate talents who can realize the corporate mission of "breaking new horizons with technology and creating new value with innovation", the common core competencies of Novatek were identified by internal and external experts, which include six competencies: collaboration, problem analysis and solving, innovation, adaptability, proactiveness and continuous learning. Competency development is then carried out through Novatek's talent development blueprint and training system, hoping that employees can keep pace with the Company's growth and accumulate sustainable development momentum.

Talent pipeline development blueprint

The new employees of Novatek will receive common regulations, technical procedures, professional training and other compulsory courses since their first day of work. Each new employee will be assigned a mentor to provide work guidance and help him/her familiarize with the organizational culture, working environment, etc. After the new employee passes the probation-period evaluation, the corresponding supervisor will assign work and set the performance evaluation plan according to each individual’s conditions as well as the needs of the team, and provide on-job-training as well as off-job-training to help the employee achieve annual performance goals and career development. Through the annual performance evaluation and personal development plan, Novatek evaluates the development potential of employees and their suitability for higher professional or management positions. Subsequently, the Company will provide learning resources corresponding to the cultivation of talents at all levels, laying the foundation for the potential talents required for the sustainable development of the organization.

Leadership development

To cultivate and develop supervisors and potential leaders at all levels, Novatek has launched various learning and development courses for management at all levels through the Academy of Leadership Management based on leadership competencies, including organizational strategy leadership for middle and senior management, and team leadership learning courses for supervisors. In 2023, a total of 23 leadership development courses were launched, with a total of 82 training hours and 780 participants.

Quality and quantity-based learning development results

Through a diverse and friendly learning experience, Novatek provided a total of 530 diverse in-person and online courses in 2023, with a total of 65,053 employee enrollments. The average training hours per employee was 34.4 hours (including e-learning), up 5% from the previous year. Based on the competencies, a series of professional training courses were planned to not only enrich employees' professional knowledge and skills but also to achieve the goals and tasks assigned by the Company. This also helped employees to explore and develop themselves, accept challenges, strengthen their professional skills, and enhance their competitiveness.

Program 2024 Leadership Training Program
Content
  • The program is designed to cultivate and develop the organization’s key talent, ensuring their readiness to lead the company toward its future growth objectives. This leadership training is aligned with the five-year operational strategy and the strategic leadership competencies required for division managers, while also integrating ESG concepts to emphasize sustainable leadership.
  • The course design adopts a diversified approach, including theoretical lectures, case studies, experiential learning, reading discussions, and peer learning among supervisors. This comprehensive learning experience enables participants to gain insights from various perspectives, continuously injecting new energy and growth momentum into the company’s sustainable development. A total of 7 sessions are planned in this series.

Program 2024 All Employee Human Rights Protection Training Program
Content

In compliance with the Labor Standards Act and other relevant regulations, strictly adhering to international human rights standards, and implementing the RBA (Responsible Business Alliance) Code of Conduct, Novatek has established the "Novatek Human Rights Policy" and organized a total of 7 human rights protection training courses. 

 

  • Promote the Employee Code of Integrity: Novatek promotes the “Employee Code of Integrity” for new employees on their first day of work. Training hours: 1.5 hours
  • Integrity Management: Maintaining both corporate and personal integrity, upholding credibility, and complying with laws and regulations are important responsibilities for all Novatek employees. To reinforce these values, the Company regularly conducts awareness and training programs. Training hours: 0.1 hours
  • Trade Secrets and Personal Data Protection: The protection of trade secrets and personal data is the common responsibility of all employees of Novatek. All employees of Novatek must receive education and training on trade secrets and Personal Data Protection Act, allowing the employees to understand the latest trends of laws and regulations and the analysis of relevant cases, so as to protect the rights of both employees and the employer. Training hour: 3 hours
  • Information Security Education: In response to information security protection and preventing any illegal cyberattacks, Novatek not only conducts information security promotion to new employees, but also to all employees from time to time to protect human rights and privacy. Training hours: 2 hours
  • Prevention of Workplace Violence and Sexual Harassment: To avoid and prevent workplace violence and sexual harassment, Novatek has formulated the “Workplace Violence and Sexual Harassment Prevention and Handling Regulations” to explain relevant prevention measures, allowing the employees to understand the importance of respecting human rights, implementing gender equality, and emphasizing respect for differences and tolerance multiculturalism to provide a working environment without discrimination. Training hours: 1 hour
  • Sensitivity training for supervisors: Employees need to have a healthy mind and body in order to have sustainable career development. Frontline supervisors must possess a high level of empathy and sensitivity and make use of external resources to help employees address issues in real time. Training hours: 6 hours
  • RBA Code of Conduct Training: Based on the standards set by the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct to ensure a safe working environment within the supply chain, responsible and ethical business operations, and respect for human rights and the environment. Training hours: 0.1 hours

New Employee Mentor Program

Novatek has implemented an exclusive mentoring system to help new employees familiarize themselves with the workplace from the first day of work, so that they will not be at a loss. In addition, the comprehensive and complete training courses allow new employees not only to contribute their strengths, but also to continue to grow while working at Novatek. Novatek attaches great importance to the adaptability of new employees after joining the Company, and whether their roles in the job meet the expectations. According to the statistics from 2024, the retention rate of new employees within the first 3 years was about 89.07%, and retention within the first year was 95.97%.

Talent Development in the Semiconductor Industry

Since 2022, Novatek Microelectronics has been working closely with multiple professors on campuses to nurture future talent for the semiconductor industry. Through these courses, graduate students in electrical engineering and computer science gain deeper insights into the practical application of their expertise in the industry, as well as the latest technological trends and challenges. Through classroom interaction and technical exchanges, students continually strengthen their professional capabilities and gain a better understanding of the industry ecosystem, encouraging them to join the IC design field and fulfilling the company’s ESG commitments and objectives. In 2024, Novatek expanded the scale of its industry-academia collaboration, partnering with four universities and several professors to jointly offer six industry-cooperative courses.

Comprehensive performance management system

To review the status of employee development within the Company, as well las their performance and achievements at work, Novatek implements an employee performance management system. Every employee is required to participate in performance evaluation for the current year, regardless of their gender, age, and job category.

Complete promotion system

Through a planned education and training as well as performance evaluation process, suitable targets for promotion are identified. To enable talented people to achieve better career development within the Company and to assume more important responsibilities, Novatek has formulated the “Regulations for Occupation Level, Position and Title”, and the “Regulations for Promotion”. Based on employees’ performance, achievements and years of experience, submissions can be made by department heads. After they have received the approval of the President, promotions are made. Besides increase of salary, employees who have been approved for promotion will also be given promotion gifts to encourage their efforts and contributions to the Company. In addition, those outstanding personnel who demonstrate excellent work performance and management capabilities, based on the Company’s organizational and management needs, shall be granted management positions, thus enabling all employees to adapt their talents to the Company’s needs.
