Problem to be solved

Reading skill is the foundation of lifelong learning. Insufficient family resources and cultural stimulation for students from disadvantaged families, coupled with the long-term limitation of education resource in rural areas, have resulted in inadequate learning resources for disadvantaged students, limiting their opportunities of studying or seeking jobs in the future and making the disadvantaged students to fall into a vicious circle of poverty. It is hoped that the program can develop the reading habits of the students in rural areas from an early age, eliminating the gap in education resources between urban and rural areas.

Reading Promotion Program for Rural Elementary Schools in Hualien

Sincere thanks to Novatek Foundation for assisting Sinsiang Inter Community Association in conducting storytelling sessions and reading clubs at our school. Your efforts have enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of their hometown and ethnicity through reading activities. Moreover, the impressive outreach and field exploration activities have provided students with opportunities to broaden their horizons and step outside their communities. After observing and interacting with the students this semester, it is evident that their perspectives have expanded, and they have gained a preliminary understanding of different ethnic groups. Once again, thanks to Novatek Foundation.

Yunlin Environmental and Ecological Story Camp for Disadvantaged Students

Where is the most beautiful place in your mind? Since 2011, the Novatek Foundation has been paying attention to the education in rural areas and the uneven social resources, caring for disadvantaged children, and allowing children to learn about the mountains, seas and plains of Yunlin County through the story reading camps. From reading to field trips, we learned geography through field trips, with different themes every year, to develop children's reading comprehension, expression skills, and the sense of identification with the local land. The supply of Novatek’s resources gives children the opportunity to experience across-field and interdisciplinary learning (ecology, humanities, art, technology). Watching the growth of children year by year, becoming a person who can take care of themselves, communicate and cooperate with others, and have self-confidence, is an important nutrient and cornerstone for the development of children's personality.

Novatek Book Reading Program Supported by Novatek Social Caring Fund

The Novatek Social Caring Fund provided funding for the refurbishment of library equipment such as replacing old windows and electric fans with airtight windows and circulation fans. The old windows had been used for many years and were outdated, and the electric fans were completely damaged with broken blades. After the refurbishment, the library is brighter and more complete, integrating with the entire campus. This has provided a fresh and comfortable learning environment for the school staff and students. We are very grateful to the Novatek Social Caring Fund for providing Ching Shuei Elementary School with a better environment for students to learn and grow.
