June Highlights from Novatek Foundation’s Environmental Education Program for Rural Students in Hsinchu
Support for the Disadvantaged
In June, Novatek × Society of Wilderness - Rural Students’ Nature Experience focused on the theme “Climate Change - Melting Icebergs”. This topic may seem irrelevant to us, but it does have an impact on our lives. Melting icebergs signify accelerating global warming, leading to rising sea levels, increased water temperatures, displacement of wildlife, extreme weather events, and ecosystem collapse. These issues are challenges students will face in the future!
At the end of this series of courses, we arranged a course review, and the students answered very well! We also helped the students find some new friends on campus—solitary bees. We observed the guests in the solitary bee hotel and saw how solitary bee mothers nurture their offspring.
This series of environmental education courses allowed students to understand the importance of coexisting with nature through hands-on experiences and ecosystem observation. This is not just an endpoint, but the beginning of another journey!
