Novatek Volunteers Join Students from Tsu-Hsin Children’s Home in Exploring the Workplace of Fitness Coaching
Volunteer Service
Volunteer/Lai Wu-hsun
I originally thought this event, arranged by the Novatek Foundation, was only going to introduce career opportunities in the fitness field to students. I hadn’t thought that the fitness center would be so innovative. They integrate resources like doctors, physical therapists, and trainers, combining the models of healthcare, rehabilitation, and training to make the field of sports training more specialized. That challenged our previous perceptions of this field. They also designed a series of activities for the students to experience. And the coaches were very patient in communicating with the students. This not only gave the students a deep understanding of the life of a fitness trainer as an additional career choice, but also enabled us volunteers to learn things that are different from what we’d see in a regular fitness center, and instead closer to international professional sports training. We learned a lot of things from this trip.
