Novatek has long sponsored park green spaces to protect recreational spaces for public use. This includes sponsoring maintenance of Yushan National Park trails for 17 consecutive years since 2007. It also includes two years running, since 2022, of sponsoring the Air Quality Purification Zone at Hsinchu’s Horizon & Sea Viewing Area. Novatek recently received a public commendation from Hsinchu City Government’s Environmental Protection Bureau for these efforts.

The Horizon & Sea Viewing Area is located along the coast of Hsinchu City and is about 1 hectare in size. 2023 marks the second year that Novatek has sponsored the park, arranging Novatek volunteers to carry out regular environmental cleaning and maintenance. They care for plants, do regular weeding, and have even voluntarily expanded their maintenance and sponsorship area. Novatek invests corporate resources in the maintenance work, doing its part to protect the environment.

Novatek volunteers currently care for 69 plants in the Horizon & Sea Viewing Area, including Indian almond (Terminalia catappa), Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria heterophylla), and a large area of green space. The plants provide a 4.237-metric ton carbon sink, which can naturally remove 6.007 metric tons of carbon dioxide every year. These plants help purify the air, and maintain air quality in the area. At the same time, the area provides a space for leisure activities, ecological environment education, and sustainable resource use. Through investment by both the Company and corporate volunteers, Novatek is once again doing its all to promote environmental sustainability and protect natural ecologies.
