Novatek hosted a private screening of the documentary The Mountain Makers — A Century’s Gamble to honor the spirit of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and to reflect on its past as guidance for the future

To pay tribute to the arduous beginnings of Taiwan’s semiconductor sector, Novatek Microelectronics organized an exclusive screening of the documentary The Mountain Makers — A Century’s Gamble, inviting employees and their families to attend. The company specifically encouraged children of employees at the high-school level and above to participate in the film appreciation event, hoping they would gain insight into the semiconductor industry’s hard-won development and collectively consider the future directions of industry sustainability and intergenerational responsibility.
The screenings took place in late June in Hsinchu and Tainan, with three showings attended by more than 580 employees, family members, and friends. Director Hsiao Ju-cheng attended in person to share reflections after the screening, engaging closely with Novatek employees and their guests to discuss the creative intent and production process, thereby deepening attendees’ understanding of the historical context and pivotal moments in Taiwan’s semiconductor development.
Novatek’s private screenings were not only a tribute to industry predecessors but also concrete support for original Taiwanese documentary filmmaking and the cultural film industry. Through the power of film, the company aims to familiarize younger generations with the historical context of industry development, build consensus around technological innovation and responsible futures, and encourage employees to uphold continuity and create sustained value in their professional roles.
Director Hsiao remarked, “Everyone can be a mountain maker.” By looking back through film, she encouraged each viewer to find a sense of mission and responsibility within their own role and to continue contributing to Taiwan’s progress. Many Novatek staff subsequently shared heartfelt comments expressing how moved they were and how they appreciated the collective beliefs and perseverance behind the industry’s success. Through this event, Novatek deepened employees’ identification with the industry’s mission and sought to internalize the “Mountain Makers spirit” as a driving force for corporate innovation and sustainable development, continuing to create new opportunities for sustainability and innovation in the semiconductor sector. |
