The Novatek Education Foundation, in partnership with the Hsinchu Branch of the Wilderness Society, launched a biodiversity-focused environmental education program across five rural elementary schools in Hsinchu County in 2026. A total of 10 environmental education sessions were conducted, benefiting more than 500 students and teachers from schools located in non-mountainous, non-urban areas.

Through the “Campus Ecological Mapping” and “Campus Nature: Traditional Taiwanese Plants” programs, students were encouraged to explore their campus ecosystems using all five senses, gaining a deeper understanding of biodiversity, various habitats, ecological cycles, and the interdependence of species. The program fostered environmental awareness by helping students recognize the ecological value of their everyday surroundings and appreciate the importance of conserving natural resources.

Hands-on activities, including leaf litter observation, the establishment and maintenance of branch-and-leaf nurseries, and habitat enhancement projects, enabled students to experience circular resource use, ecological restoration, and habitat creation firsthand. These initiatives helped enrich on-campus biodiversity while demonstrating practical approaches to sustainable environmental management.

The project was further strengthened by the participation of Novatek employee volunteers, who accompanied students throughout the learning process. By integrating experiential learning with volunteer engagement, the program enhanced students’ environmental stewardship and empowered them to take action in protecting nature. Together, these efforts contributed to the development of school-based microecosystems and reinforced Novatek’s commitment to sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and environmental education for future generations.
