May Highlights from Novatek Foundation’s Environmental Education Program for Rural Students in Hsinchu

Support for the Disadvantaged

In May 2023, Novatek Foundation collaborated with the Society of Wilderness to plan the theme “Climate Change - Water Resources”. We use water in our daily lives, but where does it come from and where does it go? How does the water we use affect downstream and even coastal areas? Moreover, the longest canal in Hsinchu City is hidden in an urban area, creating lush green spaces along its path. Where is it? Let’s step outside the classroom and embark on a journey together to find the answers!

In May, volunteers from the Society of Wilderness carefully planned three small trips, taking elementary school students from Hsinchu County to visit the Water Resources Environmental Education Center and Haishan Fishing Port. For the elementary schools in Hsinchu City, a trip to Tingfuzun was organized, allowing rural students to learn about longest canal in Hsinchu City!

Each of the three activities was thoughtfully planned, aiming to provide students with more opportunities to experience nature by stepping outside the classroom. Let’s take a look at these activities together!
