Novatek Foundation Reading Program in Rural Hualien: Writers Visit Schools, Children Enjoy Hearing Stories

Guanghua Primary School in Ji’an Township, Hualien County, in collaboration with Novatek Foundation and Sinsiang Inter Community Association, organizes the Neither Mountain Nor City School Promotion: Writers Visiting Schools program. Every year, different writers visit elementary schools in Hualien to engage with students. Of these writers, Huang Wen-hui, who resides in Hualien, is a beloved storyteller in children’s hearts. Response to the program has been enthusiastic, and the children excitedly took photos with and received autographs from the writer. It was a joyful afternoon.
Since 2015, the Novatek Foundation has continuously deepened and broadened children's interest in reading through different reading activities, such as arranging storyteller grannies to visit schools, classroom book clubs, and writers visiting schools. Chang Shih-hsuan, Principal of Guanghua Primary School, expressed gratitude to Novatek Foundation and Hualien County’s Sinsiang Inter Community Association for their long-term commitment of both labor and funding to promoting reading in rural areas. This has greatly benefited the children.
