Support for the Disadvantaged

Novatek Social Caring Fund brings warmth from tech professionals, benefiting 9,000 children in remote areas
Since 2017, the Novatek Social Caring Fund has collaborated with the Boyo Social Welfare Foundation to deeply invest in education in remote areas. Over the past eight years, the fund has contributed a total of 6.53 million NTD, providing Boyo with 34,000 sets of tutoring materials across Taiwan and renovating 14 tutoring classrooms in remote areas, benefiting 9,000 students. These resources not only improve the learning environment in remote areas but also help thousands of children seize opportunities to transform their futures.

Novatek encourages employees to donate voluntarily and join in charitable efforts. Since the establishment of the Novatek Social Caring Fund in 2007, it has adhered to the principle of "using small donations from many to achieve great charitable deeds," making social contributions a part of the corporate culture. The aim is to use collective efforts to convey the love and warmth of tech professionals to disadvantaged groups in need, allowing more disadvantaged individuals to receive proper care and find hope in life.

Serving 530,000 annually, Boyo Social Welfare Foundation takes root in remote education
The Boyo Social Welfare Foundation utilizes both educational and social work expertise to help disadvantaged children in remote areas improve their academic achievements and support them until they can become self-reliant and lift themselves out of poverty. Boyo has established 17 tutoring centers across Taiwan and collaborates with 53 units, serving over 3,500 elementary and junior high students daily. Each student receives approximately 480 hours of tutoring annually, with a total service volume reaching 530,000 annually.

Boyo Social Welfare Foundation's CEO, Chen Liangzhi, stated that due to the scarcity of resources and geographical constraints in remote areas, there is a significant gap in educational resources between urban and rural regions. The support of companies and the public is crucial in improving educational conditions in remote areas.

Novatek bookshelves in remote classrooms, accumulating 34,000 textbooks and extracurricular books
Boyo once conducted a reading survey among students at the Yilan tutoring center, finding that 55% of parents had not purchased any extracurricular books in the past year. Insufficient reading not only affects students' comprehension but also makes it harder for them to absorb other subjects. To address the lack of reading materials for students in remote areas, Novatek has continued to fund tutoring materials and extracurricular books, enabling Boyo to set up Novatek bookshelves in remote areas. Over the past eight years, they have donated 34,000 books, bringing the fragrance of books to remote areas and turning the power of tech professionals into tangible educational resources.

Remote classroom renovation project, Novatek leads the implementation of sustainability concepts in remote classrooms
Many of Boyo's tutoring classrooms are located in remote areas. To allow children in communities and tribes to attend classes nearby after school, spaces like private homes and activity centers are often rented and converted into classrooms. Many of these venues are in disrepair due to long-term disuse and outdated equipment. Over the past eight years, Novatek has not only provided financial sponsorship but also involved its volunteers in renovating 14 tutoring classrooms across Taiwan. They continue to replace energy-efficient lighting, fans, and other equipment, providing a comfortable and safe learning environment for students. This effectively enhances energy efficiency, conserves energy, reduces carbon emissions, and minimizes pollution, working with Boyo to achieve sustainable development goals.
