Novatek Microelectronics Enhances Water Resource Management — Zero Discharge from RO Drinking Fountains

Sharing Result

Novatek Microelectronics continues to invest in water-resource management to maximize water reuse. In 2025, through engineering improvements, the company installed an RO drinking-water wastewater recovery system in two of its owned buildings at the Hsinchu campus — the Zhubei Taiyuan Building and the Science Park Technology Building. Wastewater generated during the production of potable (domestic) drinking water is collected via piping and redirected to an irrigation reservoir for landscape and horticultural watering. After completion in June 2025 and based on measurements from the recovered-flow meters, the two Hsinchu buildings can each month recover more than 300 tonnes of wastewater in total, achieving an average water savings rate of 4%. According to related research data from the Architecture and Building Research Institute (Ministry of the Interior), 300 tonnes of water can supply the daily water needs of approximately 300 four-person households.

Using recovered wastewater for landscape irrigation reduces routine tap-water consumption and ensures sufficient water availability to maintain landscape plantings during dry seasons. Novatek Microelectronics values every drop and continues to implement sustainable practices across its operations.
