Novatek Microelectronics Implements Energy- and Carbon-Reduction Measures — Small Supply Fans in Office HVAC Systems Upgraded to Energy Efficient Motors

Sharing Result

Novatek Microelectronics is proactively implementing energy- and carbon-reduction measures. In 2025, the company introduced new EC (electronically commutated) energy‑efficient motors and completed a full retrofit of the small supply-fan motors in the HVAC system of the Technology Building located in the Hsinchu Science Park. The adoption of energy‑efficient motors delivers significantly improved operational efficiency.

The Technology Building contained a total of 723 small supply-fan motors. To avoid disrupting daily office operations, the retrofit was carried out on weekends over an eight‑month period and was fully completed by the end of September. Verified by the company’s Energy Management System (EnMS), the new EC motors achieve more than 50% energy-efficiency improvement compared with the previous conventional fan motors, resulting in an estimated annual electricity savings of approximately 159,000 kWh and an annual reduction of 79.06 metric tons of CO2 emissions. In addition, the first-floor office renovation of the 2025 R&D building specified the direct installation of 70 new EC energy‑efficient motors for small supply fans. Going forward, high‑efficiency fan motors for HVAC systems will be specified as standard equipment in new facility construction to continuously advance the company’s sustainability objectives.
