Novatek Volunteers Accompany Visually Impaired Student on a Walking Tour of Hsinchu’s Guanxi Town and Explore Grass Jelly Culture

Volunteer Service

Volunteer: Ruby

This volunteer activity primarily involved accompanying a visually impaired student to participate in a guided tour of Dong’an Old City’s old street, tomato picking, and the making of grass-jelly mochi. Before joining the event, I felt somewhat nervous and was uncertain about how to interact with the child; I also worried I might not do well. However, after actually engaging with the child, their pure and innocent nature quickly put my anxieties to rest and made the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable.

The child I accompanied was very well-behaved and independent, showing enthusiasm and focus in every activity. She often noticed many small everyday details that are easy to overlook. During the activities she also tried to assist and care for other children; her warm heart was palpable, and her efforts helped make the entire event run very smoothly.

Through this experience, I felt the simple and sincere power of the child, which inspired me to try to view the world with a similarly pure heart and to appreciate the subtle and genuine beauties in everyday life.
