Novatek Partners with the Chi Po-lin Foundation to Cultivate the Next Generation of Environmental Stewards Through Visual Storytelling

To deepen environmental education and expand its sustainability impact, Novatek partnered with the Chi Po-lin Foundation for the second consecutive year to host the Chi Po-lin Seed Academy Environmental Visual Storytelling Camp in Hsinchu. By integrating technology, visual storytelling, and environmental education, the program encouraged children to explore and document stories about their local communities through mobile photography, fostering environmental awareness and civic responsibility.
Fully sponsored by Novatek, the camp welcomed 20 participants, including children of Novatek employees and students from the Boyo Social Welfare Foundation’s Jianshi Qianshan Center and Zhudong Center. Through diverse interactions and collaborative learning opportunities, the program promoted educational equity and social inclusion. In addition, Novatek encouraged employees to support the initiative through charitable donations. Employees could contribute to causes aligned with their interests, including visual heritage preservation, environmental sustainability, and environmental education. Together, these efforts generated a total of NT$45,000 in donations, further expanding social engagement and environmental stewardship.
The camp curriculum covered mobile photography, visual storytelling, environmental issue discussions, and outdoor ecological field studies. Participants visited Xiangshan Wetlands and the Shuilian Bridge Trail in Emei, where they observed intertidal ecosystems, biodiversity, and eco-friendly engineering practices. These experiences helped instill sustainable values centered on respecting nature and protecting the environment.
Beyond environmental education, Novatek engineers leveraged their expertise in imaging and display technologies to design a Smart Imaging Workshop, incorporating interactive AI and AR experiences. Through hands-on learning activities, children gained insights into how technology can be applied to solve real-world challenges and create positive social value, while enhancing their digital literacy, creativity, and innovative thinking.
The program concluded with a successful showcase at Hsinchu Park, where participants presented their environmental observations and visual storytelling projects to the public. Through these presentations, they embodied the spirit of “Letting Others See What I Have Seen,” a vision inspired by the legacy of filmmaker Chi Po-lin.
Looking ahead, Novatek will continue collaborating with nonprofit partners to integrate technology and education in advancing environmental sustainability initiatives. By nurturing a new generation equipped with technological competence, environmental awareness, and social empathy, Novatek aims to plant the seeds of hope for a more sustainable future.
