Higher Education
On May 5–6 (Friday through Saturday), Novatek exclusively sponsored the “2023 Interdisciplinary Exchange and Industry Linkage Conference”, providing a platform for Taiwan’s young scholars to exchange insight on cutting-edge technologies, academic and industry perspectives, and opportunities for industry–university collaboration with Novatek. Novatek’s sponsorship came at the invitation of Professor Soon-Jyh Chang, former project leader of the National Science and Technology Council’s “Young Scholar Development Program” and professor at National Cheng Kung University’s Department of Electrical Engineering The “Young Scholar Development Program” was conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (now restructured as the National Science and Technology Council) from 2018–2022 with the aim of providing outstanding young scholars with ample research resources and opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange. The program assisted young scholars in continuously cultivating local research capabilities, thereby avoiding gaps in Taiwan’s academic development. As part of the program, regular cross-disciplinary exchange activities were organized each year for outstanding young scholars. Although the program has ended, Professor Soon-Jyh Chang hopes to maintain the momentum of this exchange platform to foster ongoing dialogue among the outstanding young scholars of the past 5 years and lead the continuous development of Taiwan’s academic competitiveness. Novatek has a long-standing collaborative relationship with Professor Soon-Jyh Chang in industry–university technology R&D. Both parties share a strong belief in integrating and co-creating industry–university resources. Therefore, Novatek was invited to provide support for this platform. The goal of this collaboration was not only to bring industry resources to the event but also to create opportunities for young scholars to engage in dialogue and exchange with enterprises, thus expanding the opportunities and benefits of industry–university co-creation. The conference was held at the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern, Tainan, with more than 50 scholars in attendance. Former Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Liang-Gee Chen, also attended the event to exchange ideas and encourage the scholars. He expressed gratitude to Novatek for our willingness to support the platform for continuous exchange among Taiwan’s outstanding young scholars. Novatek was represented by four members of the Business Department and the Human Resources Department during the event, which included forward-looking technology exchanges with scholars and an introduction to Novatek’s industry–university collaboration model. The scholars also invited Novatek’s representatives to participate in a morning jog though the historical city of Tainan. Both parties gained valuable insight and opportunities for future collaboration, and will work together to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of Taiwan’s R&D technology capabilities. |
