Novatek Volunteers Accompany Children from Hsinchu Renai Orphanage for Humanities and Science Experience

Volunteer Service

Volunteer: Tai-Hsiang Chung

This was my second time volunteering for Novatek Foundation, and my first time interacting with the children from Hsinchu Renai Orphanage. The child I was paired with for this event was so energetic. As soon as he got in the car, he took the initiative to help me fasten my seatbelt and engaged in conversation with me. Before I knew it, we had become good buddies. Throughout the day, we worked together to complete two DIY projects—making an umbrella and a solar-powered robot. In the end, he was very happy to share his experiences with me and expressed a sense of accomplishment in completing the DIY projects. Seeing him so engaged and dedicated during the learning process made me feel happy and fulfilled.

One of the children told me during the drive, “I know this road. This is where my dad and I had dinner when he got out of prison.” After hearing this, I wanted to hug him. We are so fortunate. We should cherish the people around us more, and we shouldn’t hesitate to show more concern and love for others—perhaps a little more companionship and care will make them feel loved. I am very grateful to Novatek Foundation for organizing such meaningful activities and providing opportunities for us to take care of many people in need. Being a volunteer has energized me. It’s made me realize how lucky I am and allowed me see the many places in society that need our help.
