Novatek Volunteers Accompany Orphanage Children on a Railway Exploration and Sock Story Museum Experience

Volunteer Service

Volunteer: Chen Xinhua

On this day, the chill hung in the air like a mist, quietly enveloping the damp atmosphere. A voice pierced the silence, "Sister! I'm here!" She extended her small, soft hand, like a warm cloud, quickly nestling into mine. The tour of the Railway Museum seemed to open the door to a secret garden for the children. She occasionally hopped around like a carefree little elf, clutching a kaleidoscope in her hand. She marveled at the blooming cherry blossoms, the standing Taipei 101, the lying railway tracks, the silent train, and even the soil beneath her feet. She eagerly shared her excitement with me, unable to resist offering me a glimpse of the crystal-clear and colorful world she saw.

As the years flow by, the Wu Fu Yang Sock Story Museum sways with distant memories. On the other side of the glass display, the sock knitting machine is already in motion, its wheels whispering tales of decades past. At this moment, we turned the small hand-cranked knitting machine, and with the melody she softly hummed, we wove today's memories, stitch by stitch, into our scarves, ensuring warmth and smiles accompany us for a long time. I am very grateful for the foundation-arranged volunteer activity, which brought children, whom we might not usually meet, into our ordinary lives. For a moment, it felt as if I had returned to my own childhood, relishing the pure and simple joy of a happy smile.
